Conference report from #ANGELConference2023 now available
You can now read a very brief report on June's ANGEL Conference 2023, a major event which brought together academics, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners with an interest in research on Global Education & Learning, Education for Sustainability, and Global Citizenship. The report brings together summaries, essential data, documentation, as well as analysis, selected feedback and comment and reflection from the Advisory Board Chair Doug Bourn, Liam Wegimont, the Director of project partner Global Education Network Europe, and Christopher Castle, Director of the Division for Peace and Sustainable Development (Education Sector) of our event partner UNESCO.
Background
The Academic Network for Global Education & Learning (ANGEL) Conference 2023, the fourth biennial conference of the EU-funded ANGEL project, delivered this year in partnership with UNESCO°, was hosted at UNESCO HQ in Paris on the 19 & 20 June. This event, along with the other activities of the ANGEL network, are co-funded by the European Union.*
Conceived as a major, internationally focused gathering, the event brought together interested parties from all backgrounds for two exciting days of sessions showcasing and discussing research, projects, and new developments connected to Global Education and Learning or Global Citizenship Education, and other related fields such as Development Education, Human Rights Education, Education for Sustainable Development, Education for Peace, and Intercultural Education. The event, which was free to attend, prioritised transversal activities that promoted and enriched connections between researchers, policy-makers, and civil society organisations, especially those which capitalised on the rare opportunity to gather face-to-face.
With a theme this time of 'Global Education & Learning for a Just, Peaceful & Sustainable World', the conference included a mixture of inspirational keynote presentations, academic papers and presentations from empirical research, debates on key issues and opportunities for meetings of specialist Journal boards, early career researchers, NGO practitioners and policymakers.
