Global Education in Ireland: Critical Histories and Future Directions

This webinar will explore some of the main themes, issues and insights outlined in a new book, ‘Global Education in Ireland: Critical Histories and Future Directions’, published by Bloomsbury Press and freely available by Open Access from October 17th 2024.

Reflecting critically on important aspects of the history of global education in Ireland, some of the authors of the book’s 28 chapters will address key developments in GE in Ireland in the last fifty years. This webinar (and the book) will be of particular interest to international scholars, educators and policy makers who want to learn from the challenges and successes of promoting GE in the Irish context. In particular, the webinar will reflect on policy development and civil society / government relationships, on what has worked well in supporting the integration of GE into school curricula, and on some of the efforts to ensure critical approaches to GE in community and higher education contexts.
