UNESCO DCMÉT Chair Symposium.

The UNESCO Chair in Democracy, Global Citizenship and Transformative Education (DCMÉT) is hosting a substantial online event from May 17 to 21 at UQO (City of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada). Entitled International Symposium on Democracy, Global Citizenship and Transformative Education: New Perspectives to Understand, Get Along and Act Together, the sympoisum aims to:

  • consolidate the network of multidisciplinary researchers from the North and the South that was set up by the CU-DCMÉT in terms of sustainable, critical and mutually beneficial collaboration for the partners
  • foster a social dialogue between these researchers and actors from different formal, non-formal and informal social sectors
  • build a collective project of reflection, discussion, co-creation of knowledge and production

Background

The UNESCO Chairs (700 in the world, including 27 in Canada and 16 in Quebec) are characterized by their international partnerships, their involvement in civil society and their alignment with UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Since its inception in December 2016, the UNESCO DCMÉT Chair has initiated and developed strong partnerships by actively participating in numerous academic, social and media events in French, English and Spanish.
