You can submit a proposal now for the Academic Network for Global Education & Learning Conference 2025, the fifth biennial conference of the EU-funded* ANGEL project. Over the years, these conferences have grown into a crucial event for Global Education research, showcasing policy-related research work in the field and providing a platform for sharing new research and fostering collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners. The call for submissions is now open, with a deadline of 1 December. Registration will also open around this date.
This conference is being organised in partnership with: University of Bamberg, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Engagement Global, Global Education Network Europe (GENE), and IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education & Society, and aims to expand on the extremely successful 2023 event in Paris. It is financially supported by BMZ and the European Union*.
Hosted at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin between 4-6 June, the 2025 Conference takes the title "Research in Global Education and Learning: For Democracy, Peace, Human Rights, Sustainability, and Global Social Justice", and is designed as a major international gathering with several key objectives:
The Conference also aims at furthering the vision of the European Declaration on Global Education to 2050 (‘Dublin Declaration’), and to encourage educational research aligned with the new UNESCO Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development.
This will be the 5th international conference on Global Education and Learning organised by ANGEL. The first three editions (2017, 2019, 2021) were organized by the Development Education Research Centre (DERC) within IOE, with the support of GENE, and were all held in London, apart from the 2021 event which was held online. The fourth edition was delivered by DERC in partnership with UNESCO (supported again by GENE), and hosted in the UNESCO HQ in Paris. A further major event, focused primarily on Early Career Researchers, was held in 2020, and hosted by the University of Oulu.
